Hair salon Romy
Synopsis
The bond between 10-year-old Romy and her strict grandmother, hairdresser Stine, is fragile, but changes dramatically when Grandma becomes increasingly forgetful. Reluctantly, grandma Stine (Beppie Melissen) babysits her granddaughter Romy (Vita Heijmen), because her recently divorced daughter Margot (Noortje Herlaar) has to work. Grandma, still active as a hairdresser, struggles with early Alzheimer's. Romy doesn't like having to go to the hair salon every day, but things change when Grandma Stine confides in her granddaughter about her growing confusion. Then Romy realizes that Grandma is not only looking after her, but she is also looking after Grandma. The bond between the two grows while grandma seems to be changing more and more: she's better than usual, easier, and she talks about her childhood in Denmark. Romy assists grandma as much as possible in running the hair salon, but when that is no longer possible, Romy draws her own plan. She decides to make Grandma's greatest wish come true.
