The Boy Who Stops Talking

Synopsis

Memo is a Kurdish boy who lives in Eastern Turkey with his mother and sister. His father works in a Dutch port, and when war threatens in Memo's village, the father decides to bring them to the Netherlands. Much to the wishes of Memo, who protests the forced relocation by not speaking anymore. Yet he befriends bookworm Jeroen, who is also an outsider in his own way and the only one who accepts that Memo doesn't talk. One day, Memo sees Kemal, a Kurdish friend, being beaten up and killing one of his assailants in an emergency.
